One of downtown's newest towers, the 48-story Paseo on Rainey Street, has reached its highest point. The building’s development team celebrated the milestone with a traditional topping out ceremony last Friday, Towers reported.

The apartment building, which broke ground in 2023, will have 557 units, ranging from studios to three-bedrooms. Twenty-eight of the apartments will be income-restricted, as required by the city’s density program for the area.

Encompassing the street addresses between 78 and 84 Rainey Street, Paseo will incorporate two existing bungalows on the site into its design. In addition to the apartments and resident amenities, the tower will include ground and second-floor retail space with several restaurants and bars. Fleet Coffee will do double-duty, serving coffee during the day and cocktails at night.

The retail space facing Rainey Street will have an elevator lobby to take the public to the 12th floor pool deck and bar.

Included in the topping-out party were developer LV Collective and general contractors JE Dunn Construction. Chicago-based architects Pappageorge Haymes Partners designed the tower, and Austin's TBG Partners was the landscape designer.

Paseo is expected to open in late 2025.
