The Hutto City Council Thursday approved a permit allowing developer Ironwood Realty Partners to develop a data center on Innovation Boulevard in the booming suburb south of Austin
The permit allows Texas industrial developer Ironwood to move forward with plans for a roughly 180,000-square-foot data center near the corner of Hwy. 79 and SH 130.
The project is in the early stages, HD Brown’s Consulting Amanda Brown said at the meeting, but Ironwood’s investment in the facility is expected to be about $500 million. The center could have 15-30 employees and would not necessitate the addition of power lines over residential areas near the plant, Brown said.
“I think this is a great place to have a low employee count, high-value item that will be built,” Hutto Mayor Mike Snyder said. “It will look good and provide tax revenue, but it won’t have the impacts that a lot of the industrial uses tend to have.”
