A water park component of the Old Settlers Park buildout in an Austin suburb will move forward with maximum price amendment. The Round Rock City Council approved a $19.3 million expansion for Rock'N River, part of a larger Old Settlers Park project.

The expansion will increase the water park’s 1,600-person capacity by about 600 and will include new features such as a “total action” river, a VIP lounge with rentable space, an additional pool, and two new parking lots with about 160 additional spaces. The city plans a February groundbreaking for the expansion, which will take about 14 months. The park will stay open during construction of the additions.

The city tapped Houston’s SpawGlass as developer on the Old Settlers expansion, which includes civil and electrical upgrades for built-in infrastructure for events; expansion of the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex, including six new fields; an expansion of the Adult Recreation Complex that relocates the tennis complex and pickleball courts; and improvements to Harrell Parkway.
