Contemporary design and a rooftop bar with stellar views distinguish the AC Hotel Hill Country, which opened Wednesday in Southwest Austin. Part of Marriott International’s AC Hotel chain, which self-identifies as a “design-led European lifestyle” brand, the new hospitality facility anchors the upscale Lantana Place retail center.
The five-story hotel offers 131 guest rooms and four suites that embody the kind of contemporary design popular among travelers seeking high-end amenities. Rooms have sleek, understated furniture and fixtures, along with open floor plans. The large, airy lobby continues the tone with modern chandeliers and understated furniture that guides visitors’ attention to the views available from its giant windows and outdoor pool deck.
Located on the edge of the Hill Country at 7415 Southwest Parkway in West Oak Hill, AC Hotel is situated to take advantage of the views as well as its proximity to multiple shopping, dining, and entertainment options. It’s also throwing its own entertainment option into the mix with Salt and Stone, its open-air rooftop bar that features craft cocktails and small plates as well as the aforementioned views and an onsite mixology garden where herbs and ingredients used in its drinks are grown.
While Salt and Stone is open to the public, AC Hotel will also offer classic cocktails and tapas-inspired small bites at its AC Lounge, which overlooks the patio. With a design centered around a large citrine geode and a custom halo light fixture, the outdoor area offers relaxed seating and a fire pit. The geode makes sense, as Arizona-based designer the Art Makery curated the modern pieces placed around the hotel, which are meant to reference the natural history and topography of the surrounding area.

Managed by Peachtree Hospitality, the pet-friendly hotel also features the AC Kitchen restaurant as well as the AC Store, where guests can purchase local products and goods. Guests can also avail themselves of a fitness center featuring Life Fitness equipment and a Peloton bike, an outdoor swimming pool with reservable cabanas, and complimentary onsite parking equipped with electric car charging stations. In addition the hotel has more than 900 square feet of event space.
