Uber Technologies and Avride have joined forces to bring today delivery robots and autonomous vehicles to Austin. The companies announced their multiyear partnership to provide options for robotic or autonomous-vehicle delivery on the Uber and Uber Eats apps.

Massachusetts-based Avride is develops autonomous vehicle and delivery robot technology and has already put its boxy, jaunty bots to work in U.S. and South Korean cities. It’s also testing its autonomous cars on public roads.

The companies will launch the program with sidewalk robots delivering Uber Eats in Austin in the coming week and will expand to Dallas and Jersey City, New Jersey, later this year.

Avride plans to "expand the total fleet of Avride robots operating within Uber Eats to hundreds in 2025, followed by the launch of our robotaxi service,”  Avride’s Dmitry Polishchuk said.
