Downright Austin, the East 11th Street Marriott that got a pomo-millennial makeover last February, now features a social club with a design style that evades easy description. The Swim Club — "a historic pool turned social club where guests are invited to swim, dine and dance the night away,” — jackknifed into the reimagined hotel at 701 East 11th Street in June, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

The first rule of Swim Club is that it’s open to all and has a vibe that founder Travis Tober, also co-owner of Nickel City, Murray’s Tavern, and Old Pal, described as "laid-back."

A transformed historic (?) pool, daytime pool parties, 1980s-inspired poolside fare, and DJ sets in the Rodeo Room, the club's late-night disco, are on offer, as is recreation, more or less, on the Lawn, with an Airstream bar and tables next to the pool.
