Another new mixed-use development is headed to Taylor, the small town with the big Samsung development underway 40 miles northeast of Austin.
The Taylor City Council gave the go-ahead for the 330-acre project on Thursday, passing it on its consent agenda with no discussion.
Developer Megatel Austin Taylor plans 1,000 residential units to include 122 single-family, 786 multifamily units, and 153 apartments. Plans also include 21,000 square feet of live-work units aimed at small businesses.
The development is west of Carlos G. Parker Boulevard and north of State Highway 79 and has 74 acres of flood plain running through it. Plans for the southern part of the property include for 2 million square feet of industrial space. Michael Watkins Architect and Quiddity Engineering have been part of the development team that shaped the proposal.
