The major expansion of a city complex in Austin suburb Round Rock is set to enter its second phase.

Plans for Bob Bennett Complex at 3400 Sunrise Road, which houses the city's public works divisions, include increasing square footage for the community and neighborhood services and general services departments.

Hensel Phelps Construction Company will oversee the next phase of the project from design through completion. The company Colorado-based company will work with Jacobs Engineering Group, headquartered in Dubai, on the master plan for the expansion.

Named for a former Round Rock city manager, the original building was completed in 2019 to support operations for the public works department, including utilities and environmental services and transportation.

The second phase, slated to begin next June and be completed by June 2026, will expand the eastern portion of the complex and include the expansion of the main building for transportation field staff, expansion for utilities and environmental services staff, and new buildings to centralize operations for community and neighborhood services. 

A new facility for the general services fleet maintenance that space for grow and continued maintenance for city vehicles, is expected to begin in July 2026 and take two years to complete.

The final phase will include new space for facility maintenance and building construction management in addition to administrative offices for the general services department.
