The pickleball world domination campaign appears to be nearing completion, and Austin has been duly among its conquests. A sure sign of victory is the coming of the Picklr, a Utah-headquartered company says it's America’s fastest-growing indoor pickleball franchise.
It plans to open five membership locations across Austin and Round Rock over the next 18 months or so, starting at Round Rock Crossing, located at 3021-3023 South I-35 Frontage Road, and the other in a former Walmart building at 8201 North FM 620 in Northwest Austin.
Picklr's courts will feature outdoor-style surfacing and accommodate unlimited league play, tournaments and open play. Facilities will also have dedicated practice and warmup space, pro shops, and private-events space.
The Austin location will be the larger of the two, at 39,000 square feet, with 11 courts. Wired Fitness and Rehab will occupy a small part of the facility. Round Rock's location will have eight courts in 25,000 square feet.
“We’re fortunate that Austin is home to one of the best pickleball communities in the country, and it’s had such a positive impact on our lives. That’s why we’re excited to build a club with pro-level resources and help make pickleball more accessible to everyone,” said Picklr Round Rock owners Jennifer Zanfardino and Chris Gennarelli in a statement.
Pickleball Inc., PPA Tour, MLP, and Pickleball Central are all set to drive growth and memberships at The Picklr," added Northwest Austin owners David and Karen Hoisington, "We are excited to come alongside the awesome Pickleball community in Austin, Texas.”
Picklr plans 300 new locations with about 2,500 total courts over the next few years, it said.
