Miami-based company Crystal Lagoons and developers of planned community Ascensions on Lake Travis have partnered to bring a luxury community with a 3-acre lagoon and beach to Spicewood, about 35 miles northwest of Austin.
The Ascensions on Lake Travis community will have residential units, retail boutiques, restaurants, and concert venues, according to a press release. The lagoon will be publicly accessible with ticketed entry and a centered around a hotel development.
The lagoon portion of the project is still in the conceptual design phase, said Ascensions' Derek Diazbut, but the developer hopes to break ground in 2025.
Travis County approved plans for an Ascensions on Lake Travis condominiums project several years ago, but according to staff has not received permit requests for the crystal lagoon or resort plans. The approved condo plans allow the construction of up to 165 units.
In April, Austin suburb Leander terminated an incentives agreement for a Crystal Lagoons project, Leander Springs, due to multiple missed construction deadlines.
