New York-based developer Turnbridge Equities has broken ground on a new citizenM hotel in Downtown, the Dutch chain announced via social media.

Located at the intersection of Colorado and 7th Streets, the mixed-use project replaces a surface parking lot with a new 17-story tower that will feature 344 guest rooms and roughly 10,000 square feet of street-level commercial uses.

Completion of the citizenM, which is one of numerous trendy hotel projects now taking shape in the Downtown area, is on pace to occur by late 2023.

The citizenM chain, which is based out of Amsterdam, has made a name for with a range of hotels - often composed of prefabricated modular units - located in walkable neighborhoods of major cities. While its rooms are small in size, each hotel includes meeting spaces and large common areas for use by guests.

Recent years have seen an aggressive expansion of the citizenM brand in the United States, with new hotels opening last year in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and additional projects slated to open this year in Miami, Washington D.C., Chicago, and Seattle.
