Construction on a project to renovate Old Settlers Park in the booming Austin suburb of Round Rock started Monday, closing some areas of the vast recreation hotspot. Crews began the first phase of the buildout project in the Lakeview area of the large park, which will get a new pavilion and event stage.

Plans for the park renovation also involve upgrades to Rock’N River water park, including additional parking; civil and electrical upgrades for built-in infrastructure for events; expansion of the Multipurpose Complex, including six new fields; and expansion of the Adult Recreation Complex and relocation of the tennis complex and pickleball courts. Voters approved funding for the buildout in a bond election last year.
