One of the Rainey Street District’s tallest new buildings, the Modern Austin Residences, has topped out. The condo tower at 610 Davis Street now reaches its maximum structural height of 658 feet, or 56 stories, if you prefer.
The modernist-style Modern is on the north end of downtown’s lakeside hotspot on the the northeast corner of Davis and Rainey streets.
Its 320 new condos include 21 income-restricted residences the city required for allowing the building to have higher density than standard zoning would dictate. The building will also have ground-floor retail.
Locals Urbanspace real estate firm developed the property, which broke ground in 2022. Flintco is the general contractor. Austin firms Nelsen Partners and Page are the architects, and Urbanspace’s did the interior design work, a specialty it developed along with its real estate business.
The Modern is scheduled for completion in 2025.
