Elon Musk's brain-chip company, Neuralink, is moving forward with an Austin-area development. The company is planning a $14.7 million office building in southeast Austin suburb Del Valle, Community Impact reported.

The company plans a three-story 112,000-square-foot building with offices and a machine shop on the 37 acres Neuralink owns at 2200 Caldwell Lane, according to a state work permit. Construction on the facility, about 10 miles east of the Tesla's Gigafactory,  is expected to start this month and be completed by May 2025.

Plans for the Austin Neuralink facilities were first proposed to Travis County in 2022 under the entity name River Bottoms Ranch, according to CI.

Per county documents, multiple office buildings are part of the proposed site plans, and in April, the first project filing on the property detailed a $1 million office space.

Neuralink's expansion news follows Musk's much-covered announcement of that he plans to move the headquarters of ex-Twitter social media platform X to Austin and aerospace company SpaceX to South Texas.

Musk's companies now occupy 3,500 acres in the Central Texas region, mostly in or just east and southeast of CI reported.

Austin properties include Tesla's offices, SpaceX warehouses, and Boring Company facilities.
