A mixed-use development that should bring loads of apartments and offices to East Austin'a Govalle neighborhood is in the works. Local firm CSW Development's plans for its new project, Eclectic at Fifth Street, include plenty of both.
A 552,000-square-foot multifamily complex, currently called CSW 5th Street, will make up the residential part of the five-acre development, which will be bordered by East Fifth and East Seventh streets and capped off by Shady Lane to the west.
The five-story residential project will be at 5211 East 7th Street on the north side of the property. Designed by Austin-based STG Design, it will have 361 apartments that include studios and one- and two-bedroom units and a six-story parking lot in the center of the complex.
The estimated cost of CSW 5th Street is about $67 million, according to state records. Developers will start construction in March 2023 and expect to be finished by June 2025.
Southeast of the apartments will be a four-story, 63,000 square feet office building designed by Bee Cave's Cuaso Design Studio.
